What you choose to put into your head will have a direct effect on what comes out. This has been shown time and time again to be the case. If you put garbage into your head (mindless television, reading trash), then you will get nothing but garbage out.
Put the writings of highly successful people, personal development and making money in your head, and it can’t help but have an effect on all aspects of your life. Below is a short list of some of the basics books that every entrepreneur and real estate investor should read.
Reading Steps Towards Success for Real Estate Investors
“Think and Grow Rich” by Napoleon Hill. Back in the early 1900’s, Multi-Millionaire Andrew Carnegie commissioned journalist Napoleon Hill to study and document successful people. Through Carnegie’s many connections he gave Hill access to such people as Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Alexandar Graham Bell, Charles M. Schwab, John D. Rockefellar, plus many more. Over many years of study, Hill compiled the secrets to success that they all had in common, and how anyone can apply them to their own life. Updated to include new successes like Bill Gates, Mary Kay Ash, Dave Thomas, plus many others … this book is a must read for any entrepreneur.
“The Richest Man in Babylon” by George S. Clason. Written back in the 1920’s, this book is a classic on the fundamentals of money management written in parable form makes for a great read. Before you make money, you have to learn to handle it. Although written long ago, the fundamental principles of money management and investing still apply today. I highly recommend this book for everyone.
“Unlimited Power” by Tony Robbins. Tony Robbins has inspired millions of people and consulted to Presidents, Royalty, and Celebrities. Since an early age Tony established his own story of massive success, and his insights and advice have helped many others achieve the same. This is not just motivational hoopla, this is the real deal. I was already a successful real estate investor when I discovered Tony, and after reading this book, I took my success to a new level. This book inspired me to learn NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) which is the basis of Tony’s work. READ THIS BOOK!
“Awaken The Giant Within” by Tony Robbins. Read and listen to every thing you can find on Tony Robbins. The follow up to his best-selling book “Unlimited Power”, Tony lays out plans for you to achieve the best in all areas of your life. Like anything else, there are a few critics out there who don’t like Tony and his teachings, but if you follow his advice and put it into practice, you will get results. Read Tony’s first book prior to reading this book, as it builds a lot on the material in Unlimited Power.
“Make It Big!” by Frank McKinney. Since I first read this book, I immediately fell in love with Frank McKinney’s personality, spirit, and approach to life (partly because it is so in line with my own). Frank does things “his way”, and with a style and flair unlike others in his profession. Frank is a Real Estate Artist of the highest caliber. Starting out with small $50,000 homes, Frank built that into becoming one of the top speculative home builders in the World. Frank custom builds luxury homes without a buyer in mind, then markets them to the Ultra Wealthy of the World. Frank details his 49 “secrets”for living a life of extreme, in all areas of your life. A must read.
“Frank McKinney’s Maverick Approach to Real Estate Success” by Frank McKinney. More pearls of wisdom from the Maverick Real Estate Artist. In this book Frank discuss how you too can excell in this fascinating business of Real Estate Investing. Frank went from $50,000 fixers to creating $100 Million Mansions. Frank started out as most of us, just an ordinary person, and took it all the way. I love reading and being inspired by Frank. You will too.
“How to Win Friends & Influence People” by Dale Carnegie. Dale Carnegie was one of the early pioneers in the field of success and personal development. Written in 1937, the advice and information in this book are still as valid today, as they were then. People haven’t changed much in that time. Dale had a wonderful understanding of human needs and behavior and shares how to get along with and inspire people without manipulating them. This book is the manual for dealing with people in business.
“The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” by Stephen Covey. A best-selling business book from business leader Stephen Covey, this ground-breaking book brings together how your personal growth affects your buisness growth, and vice-versa. Full of Covey’s wonderful anecdotes, this book is highly recommended for anyone looking to grow their own business while maintaining balance with their personal life.
