11 Real Estate Investing Books Investors Should Read

Hi, this is Frank Chen with REIClub.com, the only site you need as a real estate investor. Today I've got a quick video on some quick and easy ways to improve the curb appeal of your home.

Creating curb appeal gives potential buyers a reason to come inside. Other than these obvious property improvements: grass cut, bushes trimmed, no trash… Here are some actual real estate investment tips.

* Paint/Siding* – Makes the exterior look BRAND new, I personally like neutral colors. Beige and light grey, and accent shutters – home depot has a cool program that allows you to pair colors, print the blend and they will match it.

* Clean Windows – water stains, paint stains, dust – solvent and box cutter blade

* Bust the Rust – Rust-o-leum – home-depot – great way to make exterior metal units look new.

* New Door – not in budget, consider replacing plain doorknob hardware with something more attractive, last option – stain door, polish hardware

* Trees – Trim tree limbs that are near or touching the home's roof – indication of possible roof dmg

* Mail Box Makeover – $20-100 Dollars – New is always better than slightly old.

* Outdoor Lighting – Looks expensive, great for evening showings and drive-bys

* Landscaping* – a few bushes, potted flowers, planting beds and mulch can drastically change the landscape, cheap too.

* Shutters and Trim* – another dimension – These are great ways of accenting the home. Visually stimulating.

* Gutters and Down Spouts – most houses the gutters are jammed with leaves and are falling down.

* Driveways* – Common to see cracked driveways, a bit costly, but definitely worth fixing.

You know that saying, “you eat with your eyes first”, the same goes for real estate investing. A buyers first impression is very important. They will usually make a quick decision on whether your home is worth looking at by the way that it appears from the street. It's easy to spend all your time and money on the interior, but whats the point if the buyer is already turned off by the exterior? The attention to detail is what makes the difference between selling your house in a few weeks vs. a few months. Remember, put yourself in the consumers shoes, what is it that appeals to you when buying a “new” home?
