How Investors Maximize Real Estate Seminars

Hi, this is Frank Chen with REIClub.com, the only site you need as a real estate investor. Today I've got quick video on how to choose real estate seminars, and get the best bang for your buck.

There are hundreds if not thousands of real estate investing seminars being held every year, so how do we know which one is the best fit for you? Let's find out…

Before you sign-up for the Real Estate Seminar
– Medium – Direct mail, Online/Pop-up, Email from a REI group, etc…
– Important to find out exactly what you are receiving for the cost
– Books, cds, contact rolodex, etc..
– What are cost for room and flight? Can you split costs with someone else?
– Discounted rate at hotel? (Room Block)
– What are the dates of the event? If you can't go, are you able to attend another?
– Identify how many speakers and what topics will be covered?
– Usually 2-4 speakers is more than enough for a weekend, including the core educator/expert
– Events with tons of speakers usually sell-a-thons
– Money back guarantee? Before the event? Or last day?
– Ask to see an agenda – if you are given the excuse of “we don't want it leaking out”, all you have to say is, “it will help in my decision to sign-up”
– Have a hard copy of everything you are expected to receive. Print out the online offer if you have to.
– CALL TO VERIFY!

The Importance of Networking and What to Look For
– Always have business cards on you, if you don't, you can get some cheap templated ones at Kinkos. (1000 for like $15-20).
– Be proactive and initiate conversation – no one knows who are
– Utilize the first day to build rapport
– Ask Questions and Get to Know People
– Where are they are from
– Why they are here
– How long have they been investing for?
– What do they invest in?
– Find investors with similar interests, or have connections that may help your business
– Find out who the action takers are
– Avoid the “professional” students who study all the time, but don't take any action
– Utilize the breaks between sessions to socialize
– Utilize Meals for Meetings – Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
– Skip sessions that are not helpful to mingle
– Stay up late or wake up early to network
– Make money with what you learn
– You may learn as much or more from networking that in sessions.

How to Maximize Your Education?
– Stay engaged with the speakers
– Ask any questions that come to mind – may not be another chance
– Take notes, if not, ask for a printout of the slides (not always guaranteed)
– Follow-up with your contacts
– Be an action taker – use what was taught
– Buy additional courses, coaching, events as long as the info is good for your business
– The worst thing you can do is not do anything

Real estate seminars are a great source for furthering your education as a real estate investor. It's also a great opportunity to meet other like minded real estate invstors who share similar investing goals as you. But in order to find the one that fits your learning style, there is a lot of work that YOU have to put in first.

Remember not to be fooled by the fancy “bells and whistles” the “wining and dining”. You are paying money to learn, and hopefully make money from what you learn.
